What defines a hero? Are their special abilities? Is it their morality? I believe a hero is someone who gives help when no one else can. My father is my hero. He is an optometrist. Like his father, my father improved the eyesight of countless people in my home country: Guyana. Since I was a child I have always had an interest in the field of eye care. I followed my father on countless occasions and I guess that's why it was easy for me to decide what direction to take in my life. However, my goals could never be achieved without proper education. In my undergraduate and graduate studies, I saw a way to make those dreams come true. I moved to Florida to gain training in the eye care field. I subsequently enrolled in the vision care program at Miami Dade College where, during my first year, I gained theoretical knowledge about optics.
