A job description involves stating the roles and responsibilities that an individual or group of people are expected to perform in their various careers or departments. The purpose of a job description is to make someone aware of the tasks to be performed and what the expected results are. When providing a job description the following are included; the job title, what the objectives of the job are, the daily tasks to be carried out, the working conditions and clear guidance and instructions to be adopted (BIS, 2011). Below are job descriptions for various positions in police departments. Police Officer (Investigator) The main role of a Police Officer is to investigate serious crimes and directs other police officers in the detection, prevention and investigation of serious crimes in areas such as, financial fraud, theft, fire arson, rape and murder. The detective carries out patrols in assigned regions, ensuring law and order is maintained, conducting first-hand investigations into areas of crime and supervising undercover operations. They are responsible for arresting crime victims and are expected to testify in court and, among other duties, act as an escort for VIPs and be familiar with the different types of weapons department (LVMPD) Victim's Lawyer Supervisor The Lawyer's Supervisor of the victim is responsible for the direct supervision of the lawyers who represent the victims together with the witnesses of all crimes; ensure that the department employee is performing their duties. The lawyer is also responsible for conducting interviews with victims in order to determine their needs and then act accordingly by providing the necessary information and services.
