I find that I learn much better when I tell someone what I should learn. Even though my mother may not know much about the Russian Revolution or discrete mathematics, when I have to explain it to her she helps me learn. I view learning by talking more like learning by explaining or teaching. I usually talk to someone about the content I'm learning and try to teach or explain to them what I should know. This allows me to cognitively adjust my conversation strategies to make sure she understands what I'm trying to tell her. I have to know all the parts of what I'm learning for her to understand, and that helps me process and organize my thinking. In learning social studies, I used social studies a lot. I often called my mother to explain what happened during the American Revolution or World War II. There were so many political ideologies present in those times and in order to classify and learn them I would have to specifically explain them to
