Participatory journalism is the use of public citizens in the crucial process of gathering, reporting, analyzing and disseminating news and information in the media. It also refers to an alternative and activist form of news gathering and broadcasting that functions outside of traditional media institutions, usually as a response to shortcomings in the field of professional journalism and is based on different ideas about alternative sources of legitimacy than journalism traditional (Abdalla, 88). Citizen journalism has been useful in the recent revolution involving political struggle in different parts of the world, especially in Arab countries such as Egypt, Iran and Tunisia. These revolutions involved people using social media, especially Twitter and Facebook, and text messaging to bring about political transformation in their countries (Abdalla, 88). The article focuses on how the use of new types of media such as citizen journalism has led to success in promoting civic engagement by supporting the capacities of democratic activities that have helped plan, organize and implement peaceful protests in their countries that led to political change. Furthermore, it analyzes how the use of new media has facilitated the effective form of citizen journalism by providing ordinary citizens with the ability to document protests, spread the message about the ongoing protest, and provide evidence on the use of extreme power by militants. government and its brutal law enforcement (Abdalla, 88). The article will use the case study of the Egyptian uprisings and how people used citizen journalism to present their agenda and ensure the realization of their demands during the political uprising to overthrow dictator President Hosni Mubarak... half of the paper . .....the government combined its non-competitive political strategy with an equally ineffective communication strategy that failed to stop political activism but actually increased it further. Conclusion It is clear that the use of new media is an effective means of gathering information, reporting and transmitting. The use of citizen journalism is an effective way to achieve these results. However, traditional methods were not as effective in coordinating people as in the case of the Egyptian revolution. The revolution has been very successful thanks to the use of new technologies such as Twitter and Facebook to plan and coordinate information and the sharing of crucial strategies and ideas between people.
