Age discrimination continues to be a problem for both men and women over the age of 40 in the workforce. In 1967, the federal Age Discrimination in Employment Act ADEA was passed to prohibit discrimination against workers 40 years of age or older. Another 1964 law, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, prohibits employment discrimination on the basis of sex, race, color, religion, or national origin. However, discrimination based on age still exists and seems to be more pronounced especially for older women than for older men. The federal and state governments should implement more regulations to protect the rights of workers across all age groups, both younger and older generations, including their race and gender. 1. Introduction: Work plays an important role in our daily life, it is considered much more important part of our personal life. During our daily work we form many relationships throughout our professional history. Sometimes these relationships become long-lasting and sometimes discrimination at work may occur. This relationship we thought would last could be disrupted by the devastation of reports of discriminatory treatment. Discrimination in the workforce has been a problem since the first workers in the United States to the present day and even in the past. Some employees were subjected to harsh working conditions, verbal abuse, denial of advancement and many other injustices. There was also the fact that some employees were treated differently than other employees. Many job seekers will face job discrimination or perhaps be treated differently because of their skin color, age or religion. Although it is illegal to discriminate in hiring and firing, however, one of the paper's most central answers was categorized into:1. Not hired or interviewed due to their age.2. Fired or demoted due to their age.3. You just feel that the company discriminates4. Not promoted or assigned to a particular job because of their age.5. You feel that there is general discrimination throughout society. As a result of this survey it was concluded that age discrimination is one of the highest unemployment rates of any group of all time with the least attention. Another study and test aimed to empirically test this hypothesis by estimating the different effect of age discrimination policies on older women and older men in the workforce. The results of this study found huge differences between older women and older men in retirement and employment, leading to the point that more discriminatory laws should be implemented to protect older women..
