Although generally reduced by increasing educational attainment, dislikes are shaped to reflect class-based exclusion. His findings show that although people with higher education tend to have fewer dislikes for musical genres in general, the few genres they dislike are those that are liked by or represent the culture of the lower status group. Additionally, the three genres least likely to be rejected are those disproportionately enjoyed by blacks and Hispanics. Thus, one might observe an omnivorous taste of a high-status person who is more racially tolerant but still reflects class-based exclusion. This tendency is also evidenced in the high-status group's rejection of racial integration into the community only when it implies class.
