Caste systems are a necessity in any world and without hierarchies there would be no order and control. It can be said that this hierarchy is usually accompanied by some form of oppression, because when a person has a higher level of power, such as in government against the people, there is always tyranny. For any society to function smoothly, there must be domination, which typically comes from the government. The basic idea of ​​caste systems around the world is to divide the human species into different groups based on physical or behavioral differences. The caste system originated in India and concerns a “hierarchical socioeconomic organization of society that evolved around the ancient civilizations of India”, and subsequently spread throughout the world, “a new way of life brought with itself the need for government and order, defense and conquest, learning and trade, workers and artisans. Roles began to be defined and people were classified based on their function, occupation and economic position in society”. (“Caste System in India.” Anand & Kulbir, 2009.) The Hindu system divided the population into different castes, which showed their levels of domination and inequality. Much like the caste system in India, George Orwell's 1984 and Aldous Huxley's Brave New World both depict human dignity based on caste systems, a system that only benefits higher authorities within their communities. Totalitarian control in both Brave New World and 1984 can be seen through an oppressive government that controls and deprives the population of the rights to freedom and prosperity. Caste systems that provide organization and hierarchies are also established, and when these two aspects of a community are practiced, oppression is almost inevitable the idea that the less fortunate are left to fend for themselves in a world where meritocracy is heavily enforced.
