Topic > The importance of sex education - 930

However, the reality demonstrated by government research shows that only 10% of parents talk to their children about sex. 10% is a very small percentage, which means that 90% of our children are exposed to learning about sex from unsuitable people. The reason why parents don't talk to their children about sex is based on how they were raised. Most families are conservative. They treat sex as a taboo, talking about sex in the family is embarrassing and disrespectful towards them. In their time, learning about sex wasn't as dangerous as it is today. Now sex is shown on television and on the Internet in a way that will make all teenagers feel, without knowing, how dangerous it is or even without knowing how to protect themselves if they choose to have sex. Sex education should be taught by experts who can explain well to teenagers without feeling uncomfortable and who teach and show them how to protect themselves. Should sex education be taught in high schools? Based on research and the stories of some teenagers victimized by their environment, I believe that sex education should be taught in our high schools. By teaching sex education to teenagers we will reduce the rate of pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases. Additionally, teenagers will be more aware of the dangers of sex and will be able to choose between waiting to find the right person to partner with or have sex, but protect themselves by using what they have learned in sex education.
