Topic > The Pros and Cons of Feminism - 1038

Feminist ideologies benefit all genders, including men, while misandry benefits anyone but a man. The idea that men should be tough and emotionless and take care of their family alone without any help is something that feminism believes should be changed. To put this into context, a typical gender role that all people face is that women have to cook and clean the house while the man does all the hard work. Because of this belief, if a man likes to cook or do anything associated with women, he is made fun of and ridiculed. Feminism seeks to break these roles, so not only do women not have to live up to the expectations of being a "stay-at-home mother", but man does not have to be punished when he likes to do certain things. Just like gender roles, there are also sexual norms that feminism pushes to eliminate. For example, in society men are expected to objectify women. This hurts women because they are seen only as sexual objects, and at the same time it hurts men because if a man deviates from this he is immediately punished and ridiculed as if this makes him less of a man (Because men need feminism too). Another thing feminism advocates that benefits both genders is the creation of a legal system free from gender stereotypes. This occurs when a married couple with one child divorces and the court immediately decides that the married women have custody of the child.
