Introduction Several contributing factors can be seen as reasons for crime. Depending on the circumstances, it can sometimes be very difficult to resist the temptation to commit a crime. It's even harder when you come from a place where crime is considered a normal part of society and seen as a daily way of life that should be incorporated into everyday lifestyles, so the city we're not too far from: Fresno . Indeed, having a city or group of cities nearby where violence, crime and gangs abound gave me an incentive to delve into this issue. Now the question may be asked: what is the significance of crime in areas where poverty exists? True, it is not easy to answer this question considering that crime happens for many different reasons and sometimes location is not the issue. The origin of crime dates back to the dawn of man, and the fact is that it will never be stopped, as it is almost part of human nature nowadays. But for now, we need to study how crime and poverty are linked to each other, and what other factors help influence the effect of crime where poverty is relevant. In the United States there are specific areas that have been overwhelmed by the infestation of crime and violence and it seems to reach its peak in areas where poverty is high. Therefore, in this essay I will examine the connection between poverty and crime and try to demonstrate the relationships between the two. The link between poverty and crime is not a new discussion. In fact it has been an extremely controversial topic among many over the years. Arguments have been made stating that poverty has no direct link to crime based on countries having very high poverty, however… half of the paper… does, which may render all findings invalid. With any research project, limitations will be present. It is important to attempt to eliminate some of these causes in order to complete a thorough and accurate study. In future projects, this study could explore this question in several ways. Perhaps using a larger sample size would be favorable for obtaining accurate results. A larger sample size helps reduce and equalize any errors caused by those who do not respond truthfully. Furthermore, keeping surveys predominantly anonymous would help receive more truthful and accurate responses from participants. Participants may be afraid of judgments in open interviews or telephone interviews, which could influence their responses. To obtain the most accurate results possible, a future study should find ways to interview participants confidentially and comfortably..
