Advantages of Geothermal Energy include: cheap, reliable, reduces dependence on fossil fuels, creates jobs, stimulates the economy, requires no fuel , environmentally friendly, the energy source is free and abundant (The Children's University of Manchester, 2012). Disadvantages of geothermal energy include: limited space in which geothermal power plants can be built, sometimes the geothermal site experiences periods of steam drought, difficulty in controlling harmful gases and minerals that come from the earth (The Children University of Manchester, 2012 ). Additional disadvantages of geothermal energy are: it cannot be easily transported, high initial costs, financial risks are high, wells eventually run dry, and there are limited geothermal fields located in a few areas around the world (Energy4me, 2015). Technological advances have expanded the range and size of important resources and direct applications for things like home heating (California Energy Commission, 2015). A geothermal field in California has one of the largest groups of geothermal power plants in the world, making California the appropriate location for geothermal energy (California Energy Commission,
