At the time, I thought these stories were created in a fantasy world out of nothing, but as I got older I realized that his stories had some truth in them. One of these stories has been constantly in my mind and I'm happy to have touched on the topic during the interview. One summer, as a child, my cousin, my brother, and I were gathered on the floor. We were about to go to sleep and my grandfather was telling us these great stories. He would usually add us to the story as main characters and tell an amazing story that would fire our young imaginations. However, that day was different, a piece of reality was about to be revealed. The year was around 2002 and the United States was full of discrimination against people from the Middle East. He was telling a story about desert survival and mentioned people from the Middle East. It was at this point that his grandchildren, including myself, said they were bad people. We had been convinced by the news and media to believe that all people who wore turbans were evil terrorists, who wanted to kill Americans. Our easily impressionable people knew nothing else about these people from the Middle East. That's when our grandfather explained to us that we shouldn't make fun of these people, because his mother was from the Middle East. I thought he was joking and wanted to make us laugh. I
