Coca-Cola has initiated numerous programs but none as noteworthy as Safe Water for Africa. Other programs such as USAID (United States Agency for International Development), UNDP (United Nations Development Programme) and Water For People fall short of Safe Water for Africa. Coca-Cola, with the help of Diageo Plc. and Water Health Inc. has established over 200 water health centers in Nigeria, Ghana, Liberia and Sierra Leone that meet WHO standards. These facilities reduce waterborne diseases, increase education about the problem, and are scalable and easily implemented. Starting with a presentation, a free water day and a ceremony, the station then charges a small usage fee to maintain maintenance between 10 and 15 pesewas and continues to be a reliable source of clean drinking water for citizens.
