Thought is a tool for humanity; the creative thinking of humans is what distinguishes people from savages. Thinking is a great skill to have, one that can be used for good or bad. The color of your thought is not necessarily painted by the person who possesses that consciousness, rather it is painted by someone else. These thoughts possessed by a person are a determining factor that alters people's actions. This theme is demonstrated in the play Network, Macbeth and a Poem Ulysses by Alfred Lord. Network follows new host Howard Beale and executive Diana Christensen's journey in pursuit of a high TV rating that ultimately results in madness, loss of self and, ultimately, murder. TV, described as the most effective way to implant ideas in people's minds, has shown its full potential. The character of Beale – the madman supports the idea of how thoughts can determine how a person reacts in a situation.
