The United States currently relies heavily on coal, oil, and natural gas for its energy. As the price of natural gas per barrel continues to plummet, the United States is constantly searching for new sources of renewable energy. Renewable energy is any type of natural resource (solar energy, ocean energy, wind energy, rain, snow, etc.) that regenerates naturally and automatically. Renewable energy is important because it is infinite and eternal, which means that our children and our children's children will be able to use these resources long after we are gone. I believe the only way the United States and the world will see a large-scale transition to renewable energy sources is through education. At the moment, it seems that only a few pockets of people around the world are aware of the positive benefits of renewable energy sources. Not only is it better and cleaner for our environment, but so could the renewable energy industry. I believe that any negative economic effects that the transition from traditional to renewable energy might have on our economy would be outweighed by the plethora of positive effects that would result. consequentially. According to ucusa.org, renewable energy already supports thousands of jobs in the United States alone. For example, in 2011, the wind energy industry directly employed 75,000 full-time equivalent employees in a variety of functions, including manufacturing, project development, turbine construction and installation, operations and maintenance, transportation and logistics, operations financial, legal and consultancy services. Other renewable energy technologies, such as the solar industry, employ even more workers. According to the 2011 National Solar Job Census, more than 100,000 people were employed both part-time and full-time in the industry. This data alone is a promising figure considering that renewable energy is still there
