Writing and the writing process are taught at a young age. As young students we learn the alphabet so that we can learn to form words, which eventually become sentences and then essays or books. The writing process is an important factor when turning sentences into a formal piece of writing. It is taught at an early age because it takes time to fully understand and perfect the process. There are many steps involved which are all essential to constructing a well written and thought out document. These steps will follow a student through college and even into their career after graduation. Personally, I have learned the importance of using this specific process to expound on a topic and over the years it has helped me mature my writing. One of my strengths is my great reading comprehension when I'm focused. This in turn helps with my writing when analyzing a piece because it shows full understanding. Secondly, my essays are normally always organized. Before writing, I always choose to create an outline for each paragraph because it helps the flow of the paper in its entirety. I find that if I don't do this, the ideas are unorganized and cause confusion for my readers. Finally, I am able to use sources correctly. A lot of time was spent making sure I could create and use quotes within my essay whenever they were needed. Along with the strengths there are also weaknesses. I have a hard time writing about a topic that doesn't interest me. Being able to write about a topic you have no interest in is an important skill to have. As I move forward in my education and career, I need to be able to effectively produce a finished product with excellence when there is no interest as I do with a piece of interest. The same amount of effort needs to be given to a topic that has no personal relationship to what I'm passionate about. Another weakness is the lack of clear evidence after making a great argument. Often, the evidence used is unclear to readers as to why I used it. These weaknesses are something I want to be able to work on moving forward in this
