The couple speaks to each other as a married couple would. They also have the ability to predict what the other will say. All of these are traits that a married couple would have after a few years together. This is something that all relationships, be they love or friendship relationships, experience over time. After being in someone's presence for a long time, you will eventually be able to get a feel for where their mind is at. Overall, the couple discovers that their relationship has flaws and that they don't know each other as well as they thought. This happens to completely change the dynamic of the story and show that the husband is not quite as good a husband as he thought he was. This was my favorite part of the story, where both the husband and wife realize that they have failed their partners and that the couple has its flaws just like every married couple. I analyzed the symbolism and social issues present in the story. “Say yes.” “Say Yes” is a story that brilliantly touches on elements of racism and gender roles, as well as the issues this couple faces after just one argument. Tobias Wolff does an excellent job of turning this simple story into a tale that preaches equality and tolerance. I really enjoyed the story and would recommend it to many people who are going through problems with their relationship, because that's what the whole story is about
