Topic > The Importance of Sports in 9th Grade - 771

One Team, One Dream Many schools do not support the need for sports in 9th grade, which has some negative and positive factors. Sports influence many students in a positive way like me; brings joy to our faces. Today, sixth graders are engaged in non-school sports, but in community sports because students are not allowed to participate in functional sports in school. Fort Bend ISD has banned sixth graders from playing any such sport because they are "young." I believe FBISD should allow sixth graders to play sports. Many students enjoy being part of a team, learning, being physically active. Although it is widely believed that sports can distract students from academics by allowing them to participate in school activities, sports will benefit in achieving better grades, building character, and creating an incentive to exercise. There are some negative factors that lead to a debate. Including, are there some downsides to having sixth graders play sports because they are beginners in middle school and may need to adjust to the new environment around them, but shouldn't they be prepared for the next few years? Likewise, because they are new people in a new school, it might distract them in class by just thinking about sports, but it might not. Another reason is that enjoying a sport can lead to increased stress, anxiety, and loss of enjoyment from the activity. Long hours of activity can lead to injuries due to excessive practices and burnout. Furthermore, due to competitive sport, the player may strain a muscle, ligament or even pain in some parts of the body. There are some negative factors, but sports are important to many students, like me, who want to play for their own enjoyment and there are positive outcomes due to the districts rules. All things considered, we should review Fort Bend ISD's rules and change them. Having a sport at school is a privilege because some don't do it due to lack of money. For many students it is important: it can help students with future possibilities such as athletics and their character. Learning about sport can change a person physically and mentally making them intelligent, respectful and healthier. Participating in an after-school activity is a rewarding experience for all students who will be dedicated and focused on school and the activity. Finally, the student will be rewarded after school for their hard work during the day. Sport can influence students in many ways, for example on character, on the improvement of pupils and on the lack of obesity. Fort Bend ISD should allow 6th graders to participate in physical activities: 6th graders would be satisfied.
