In 1986 Kurt, Krist and Chad Channing (drums) started playing together for fun. At first they were called "Fecal Matter", but Kurt decided that the final surname was; "Nirvana". The first album they made with Nirvana was “Bleach” in 1989. For a while they played and joked around with a few recordings around, but then they decided they wanted to make a record. And Seattle's Sub Pop Records made one for them. The record was a great success, it included songs such as; Blew, About a Girl, Negative Creep, School, Love Buzz, Paper Cuts and Scoff. There's more but these were the hits of the album. Kurt has wanted to be a rock star for as long as he can remember saying it. He said that playing the guitar was like an escape from the "real" world, he liked it more than anything in the world. The first song he learned was Back in Black by ACDC and Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin. The guitar teacher said that after a couple of parts of Stairway to Heaven he stopped taking lessons. Kurt said he did it because "When you learn power chords then you can write songs." So the reason why he chose this profession is because he was good at it, and with everything that happened in his life he could write impactful songs for
