According to the lexical approach, language requires enormous exposure to the lexicon. But textbooks, the only source of language exposure for ESL students, fail to meet students' needs in learning vocabulary. Therefore, it is important to introduce students to supplementary materials. Now, if we consider radio news as such materials, their use in language teaching cannot be overestimated. BBC, VOA and most importantly AIR in India have enjoyed appreciation for centuries. In The use of Media in English Language Teaching, published by the British Council, it is mentioned that English teachers around the world are clamoring for materials that can bring English to life for their students in schools and universities, and for English through Radio and Television radio broadcasts and television programs provides them with just such a resource. The biggest advantage of using radio in the classroom is that a large number of students can gather around a single receiver. Furthermore, it is an easily accessible and affordable tool in India even in rural schools.
