Bullfighting must stop now“250,000 bulls are killed every year in stadiums for the entertainment of bullfighting”(League Against Cruel Sports). “Bullfighting is a tradition that dates back to 711, when the royal court of Spain celebrated the coronation of King Alfonso VII” (Problems and Controversies). In this practice the bulls are put in an arena in front of a crowd of people. First the matador encourages the bull to attack him with his red cape. Then, he weakens the bull by using spears and darts that are driven into the bull's flanks. Finally, when the bull is weak, the matador cuts its neck with his sword to kill it. Throughout this performance the bull suffers from extreme pain and anxiety due to the wound in his body. Due to the inhumane practice of killing the bull in bullfights, countries should eliminate the sport. It is necessary to stop the torture of these bulls for the enjoyment of the show. Bullfighting is not the only sport that forces animals to fight for their lives to please the public. Allowing this to continue opens the door for other cruel sports to continue around the world. “Until the mid-nineteenth century in countries such as Great Britain, a full range of animals were used in baiting competitions: donkeys, tigers, bulls, horses, bears, monkeys, lions and even wild boars in some rare cases” (Problems and Dispute). If this doesn't stop, these athletes will believe that treating these animals with cruelty is normal. Furthermore, if this is not stopped, more games that harm animals could arise. Eliminating bullfighting could start a trend to stop other cruel animal sports such as dog and cock fighting. Both of these combat sports are a big deal in the United States today. A solution is needed to eliminate bullfighting. To stop this t...... middle of paper ...... informed the reader about the evils of this sport so that the reader can help him in the act of banning bullfighting everywhere. Torturing these bulls and killing them is not necessary to make this culture enjoyable. Be sure to share this information with others so that this issue gains more popularity while saving the bulls in return. These animals do not deserve to die in a ring with the crowd applauding this act. They deserve to die in peace. If we can put an end to this sport, we will save the lives of 250,000 bulls every year.
