Since the advent of man, the human race has gone through many changes throughout history. One of the largest and most crucial changes was Britain's industrial revolution. Although the Industrial Revolution had some drawbacks, the positive results of the Revolution far outweighed the negative effects. It pushed Britain fifty years ahead of other European countries and transformed the country into one of the strongest nations of its time. The Revolution improved the general state of Britain mainly through the innovation and invention of new technologies, the improvement of communications and transportation, and the improvement of the lifestyle of ordinary British people. During the period of the Industrial Revolution, Britain saw rapid changes. Many new inventions and innovations dramatically improved both Britain's economic situation and people's lives. The introduction of better agricultural practices and the invention of new agricultural tools such as the grain seeder, which was a “seeding device that placed and covered seeds in the soil,” made farming much more efficient and less human labor required. As a result, people moved to cities in search of work, thus providing a large workforce for factories. During the Industrial Revolution “many people left their rural communities to work in the cities…working in a factory.” These factories became the powerhouses of the industrial revolution. “Never before had people been put to work in such a well-organized way” as in factories. This new method of producing goods increased Britain's economy exponentially with the introduction of new machinery.
