Topic > Exploring the usefulness and application of qualitative research…

Pure qualitative research uses the idea that there are multiple realities that can change or evolve due to changes in events and situations. In a sense, qualitative researchers could, as reported by Tanya R. Berry in “Qualitative Researchers as Modern Sophists? Reflections on the qualitative-quantitative gap” (2011), state that “there is no reality – only experience”. Therefore, qualitative research studies can provide a glimpse of the most elusive version of the “truth” that quantitative research was never real. However, the more structured and disciplined constructs used by quantitative researchers may also be needed to define the trends, opinions and ideas revealed through qualitative methods.
