Topic > How have I changed as a writer? - 581

In the last three months I feel like I've accomplished a lot. As the semester comes to an end I find myself reflecting not only on how I survived the first semester, but also on what I learned. The most important thing I've learned so far is how to become a better writer. I didn't think it could actually happen to me. I didn't think I could handle all the work. I didn't think I could actually become a better writer. Somehow, after all the hours spent writing and putting effort into the articles I wrote this semester, I became a better writer. I did this because I focused on two very important areas, with the attitude that if I could just get better at those, I would become a better writer. With the help of a fantastic teacher and a reliable tutor I have become a better writer by improving my skills in the areas of procrastination and content. Procrastination has become a very bad habit for me. It's very difficult to stop procrastinating everything once you get into the habit of doing it. Once I had to submit a paper for my religion class. It had to be ten pages long and we were told to spend a lot of time making it. Being the procrastinator that I am, I waited until the last minute to do this. I waited until the night before to do most of the work. Needless to say, I stayed up very late that night. In this class there was always a portion of the paper due on a certain date before the final paper was due. Having things due before the final assignment is due keeps me focused and keeps me from procrastinating until the day before the assignment is due. There was an article that we had to source for a while before the deadline, and that forced me to keep up with the article, rather than letting it go until the last minute. This course taught me that the earlier you start, the more positive the end result will be.
