My Hobbies - Original Writing My first artifact is a guitar. I feel like guitar is one of my extracurricular studies, as I take private lessons once a week. I have been taking these lessons for just under a year now and I really enjoy playing the instrument and practicing continuously. Since I was very little, three years old, I have almost always played an instrument. I have a long list, including: violin, piano, trumpet, trombone, oboe, alto saxophone and my most recent guitar. The guitar is significant to me because it is my expression of myself through music. I've been involved with music since I was three years old and I feel like it's an important part of me because I grew up with it. I think it's also important to play an instrument to keep my musical skills high. I think music makes me think and move forward and in a way it's almost like learning while having fun. I like to think of it as self-motivated learning and music is one of my only hobbies that I enjoy learning about, practicing and teaching myself. Three transferable skills that I think apply to my passion for music: creativity, listening and learning skills. I believe creativity is a transferable skill that I gained from playing the guitar because having the guitar gives you the ability to experiment and try new things and see how they will sound. With the guitar you can get creative and change the rhythm, notes or chords of a song, and eventually, when you develop enough creative ability, you can create your own songs. Especially when creating your own songs, you have to use your imagination to think about which part or how will sound best. Having this creative ability, I can apply it in the workplace by being a person full of ideas, I can think of new ways to get work done, create a positive work environment and increase my creative abilities.
