The world is divided by many different nations, religions, cultures and politics. Understanding Africa better means understanding interrelationships, independence, individual and community responsibilities. It is important to understand our actions on the planet, such as our carbon footprint. Be aware of how events around the world impact us here in the United States, for example political unrest in the Middle East is causing the price of gasoline to rise. Global awareness means that we should all be aware of what is happening in our world that we all share. Africa has many problems and also faces many challenges. The more aware we are, the more information we have to contribute to and support our existence on earth. Africa has 54 countries that have significant cultural differences that result in different beliefs, practices and lifestyles. In order to move forward, many African countries will need the leadership to do so. Africa will need leaders who will ensure that power plants, water systems, roads and schools are built and then many of the underdeveloped and underdeveloped countries can start moving
