Robust Drunk College Students I read an article about students at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, and the community complaints against them. The article, written by Bob Seidenberg, discusses the need for the City Council to call a meeting to address the problems of rowdy, drunken college students who disturb the peace and quiet of the evenings by roaming Evanston homes late at night. The bottom line is: Is this a Northwestern problem or simply a lack of respect on the part of today's youth? Rowdy, drunken college students have always been and will always be around. However, the Evanston community has seen the situation progressively worsen. College students are starting to buy homes next to families with young children, potentially causing a problem. While there are no laws prohibiting NU students from living off campus, people in these areas are angry about the plight of students living next door. When you have students whose main goal, starting Thursday night, is to get completely “cast”; living next to the middle school child trying to sleep, problems arise. The parents of these children are fed up with the students' behavior and are voicing their complaints. Jane Evans said: "These students are supposed to be the cream of the crop, but we say, and many of our neighbors would agree, that these students feel strongly entitled to rampage in our streets without any respect for the community in which they live ” (p. 18) This quote is more than true. I have spent many nights at my friend's house, and the next morning there will be empty beer glasses all over the yard, and most of the night we have been kept awake by screaming. and from the laughter of college students running up and down the streets; lives in the middle of off-campus student housing. The only problem is: Who is to blame? Northwestern University has on-campus housing. the University is completely engulfed in the community. Living off campus is one of the advantages of going to NU, because the community and environment around campus is extremely college oriented. he will obviously treat the surrounding territory as his territory. Then the question really becomes: Who is to blame? Who is to blame for the noise complaints and rude, rowdy behavior?
