If love is true, betrayal won't happen. In The Great Gatsby there is a case of betrayal and one of superficial love. Tom and Myrtle cheat on their spouses with each other. They have a secret apartment for their relationship. "The apartment was on the top floor: a small living room, a small dining room, a small bedroom and a bathroom." Cheating also happens today when people act on their temptations. People get tempted by other potential partners and don't stick with their current one. It's exactly like Tom and Myrtle's situation. The case of superficial love occurred when Daisy loved Tom and Gatsby at the same time. I consider non-betrayal superficial love because Daisy did not act on the temptation. Daisy said: “I love you now – isn't that enough? I can't help what's past." She began to sob helplessly. "I loved him once, but I loved you too." Sure she loved Gatsby while she was with Tom, but she wasn't officially in a relationship. Tom acted on the temptation by buying the apartment for him and Myrtle to be together, but Daisy didn't go that far with Gatsby This happens nowadays just like in the story It happens when someone loves more than one person at the same time but doesn't act on it. The key difference between superficial love and betrayal is to act on it
