Evaluation of a production of little voiceIntroductionLittle Voice is set in a town in the north of Great Britain. It was first performed in 1992. The play is based on a girl called LV, LV stands for little voice as she never speaks and when she does she has a very soft voice, almost a whisper, she is grieving for her father who is dead, she never speaks and her way of mourning is by singing and listening to the records that her father left her. His mother, Maria, grieves for her lost youth, this is represented in the way she behaves and dresses. Mary and LV's relationship stems from when LV's father was alive, Mary felt excluded from their "quiet" activities such as listening to records. LV is very quiet, she never makes any noise except when she listens to her records, Mary fills the space with noise and action, LV seems to simply exist. The show follows how LVi is noticed by a man called Ray who is in a relationship with Mary. He hears her singing and gets her a contract to perform at the local club. Ray is busy trying to make LV a star. When LV goes on stage he impersonates his favorite stars and transforms into someone completely different. Ray and Mary's relationship comes to an end and their house burns down, it is this fire that makes Mary realize that now she has nothing left, her life is laid bare and we find out why LV has been so silent for a long time. the theme of the work is pain, the other themes of the work derive from this main theme. For example, alcoholism is a major part of the play; it's Mary's way of escaping the harshness of reality. Both LV and Mary's lives are based on... middle of the paper... very significant in that we finally felt what LV was truly feeling; it emptied my mind of everything. He told how he never spoke because he couldn't say a word. We then realize how during the show Mary filled the space with noise and movement, there was no room for LV. Conclusion I think the show was excellent and communicated Littlevoice's story really effectively. I felt I could relate to the down-to-earth approach and depth of the characters. I thought the way LV sang in each scene meant that the scenes were broken up and therefore made more effective. The story didn't last at all and so it ended while I was still having fun. All the techniques and effects used made the show "Little Voice" performed really effectively and I loved it.
