Topic > Arabizi and the Arabic language - 1039

Arabizi is a language used in modern Arabic-speaking countries. It is an Arabic writing system that uses English characters, so it is considered a combination of the Arabic and English languages. It is mainly used in a text messaging system on the Internet and on mobile phones, and this is because most mobile phones do not support the Arabic language or Arabic characters. Furthermore, the Arabic language was thought to be more difficult to use, so this new language was invented. Arabizi is used to replace the letters of the Arabic script, which raises concerns about preserving the quality and purity of the Arabic language. In this essay I will discuss why it appeared, its effect on our Arab identity, and whether or not the purity of Arabic should be defended. Ahmad: Hey Omar, how are you? Fenak?Omar: Hey Ahmad, Ana kont fe school today. This is a conversation that happens hundreds of times today in Egypt, Amman, Beirut, Kuwait or any other Arab country. This trend is now widespread among young people who have studied English in Eastern Arab countries. So most young people now follow them in order to keep up with the trend (Radi, Arabizi). During the last decades of the 20th century, many young people used Arabizi as a language to communicate with others. The reasons for the spread of Arabizi are many as the English language preceded the Internet and mobile phones. Since Arabic wasn't accessible via this technology, the only way to communicate in the digital world was to Latinize the Arabic alphabet (crap, that's not my language). Young people have found it easier to write in Arabizi and, with the increasing use of the Internet and short text messages, some Arabic speakers have decided to use that...... half of the paper... there is the true identity. But now young people are experiencing clashes and identity crises and cannot choose just which side to be on. Young people are now somewhat aware of the effects of using Arabizi. They have started campaigns asking people to write in Arabic or English, but not in a mixed language, and if possible write in Fusha, classical Arabic. Arabizi appeared for a reason, but now there is a solution, as such, Arabs must return to their genuine language which makes them unique compared to other peoples around the world. Campaigns are currently taking place to preserve the Arabic language and defend the purity of Arabic. The UN has also declared a day called International Arab Day and it is held on 18 December. It is about promoting multilingualism and cultural diversity, also to celebrate the role and contribution of the Arabic language to the safeguarding and diffusion of human civilization and culture.
