A COMPARISON BETWEEN DIVERGENT, THE MOVIE, AND DIVERGENT, THE BOOK1. Divergent, the BookDivergent is a science fiction novel written by an author, Veronica Roth. It is the debut of a trilogy by the same author and the series is known as Divergent Universe. The others are Insurgent and Allegiant. Divergent was published in 2011 by HarperCollins Children's Books. It is aimed at young adults and is set in a post-apocalyptic scene that requires a relatively imaginative mind to be attuned to the author's story. Divergent simply means a rare situation in which an individual possesses two personality traits but, fortunately or unfortunately, must choose one to live with and live with. Tris (initially Beatrice Prior) is faced with a choice that she will commit to for the rest of her life. his life. Like everyone else in the dystopian world of Chicago, he must make this decision at just sixteen years old. Every year there is a set date when all 16 year olds have to make this decision by taking some sort of aptitude test and having them administered a serum. They must choose the virtues to adhere to among five factions which are Dauntless (brevity), Erudite (intelligence), Abnegation (altruism), Friendship (tranquility) and Candor (honesty). Additionally, there is a Divergent group and there are factionless ones. After the test results are released, these teenagers will have to choose whether to stay in their previous family faction or join a new one. The serum also helps recommend the faction they are best suited to. Beatrice was born into a family that belongs to the Abnegation faction. When she becomes Tris, she joins a group to help her train and develop her identity in this society that defines its citizens. depending on the factions they belong to. I... middle of paper... spectators and spectators need to be addressed in different ways. Additionally, the film is faster paced to fit as many snippets as possible within the allotted time. Therefore, several changes were made to make this possible and still make an effort to tell the original story. Reading the novel and watching the movie will definitely feel a little different to a sharp mind ready to analyze and criticize. 3.4 DatesThe book came first. It was released on April 25, 2011 while the film was released on March 18, 2014. This is hardly appropriate since there was supposed to be a book to adapt the film from. In conclusion, the film could have done better in its attempt to reveal Veronica Roth's fantasy. Great appreciation goes again to the director for trying to bring the novel into visual reality and light up our silver screens with the imagination of the future.
