After reading each scripture, the two performers performed a short melody before allowing the next scripture to be read and raised a hand to signal the audience to sing along. In my church, all scriptures are read at the same time and all tunes are sung separately from the scripture readings. Also, in a Baptist church the audience isn't necessarily asked to sing, they have the option to sing or sit and enjoy tuning. While these were small differences, they were still differences that caught my attention. Of these small differences, I wanted to know why Catholics sing after each scripture. After doing some research, I noticed that those little pieces aren't necessarily songs. Those songs are Scripture sung rather than spoken. Catholics believe that singing is a higher form of worship than monotonous speaking. Learning this was kind of fun for me because the whole time they were "singing", I was looking at their hymn book trying to find the matching hymns so I could sing along when all I had to do was open the my
