Topic > Summary of Goodall's Gombe Creek case study...

Valuable information has been discovered through Goodall's research, such as chimpanzees eating larger mammals such as a pig. Goodall made a valid point when he said that the behavior of these chimpanzees may have been comparable to that of our ancient hominid ancestors. Goodall went to observe chimpanzees without previous prejudice, and this I believe is attributed to her success in studying chimpanzees. Goodall manages over time to get close enough to the chimpanzees to acquire the knowledge and material necessary to adequately study chimpanzee behavior. Considering the compelling nature of Goodall's research, I believe that without Goodall's research the lack of information about chimpanzees and their behavior would be distressing. It's not often that we learn about a species thought to be more biologically equivalent to us, and then discover in that study that they are very similar to us. Chimpanzees live in groups just like humans and our society. Chimpanzees have also demonstrated the use of tools to hunt for food, such as using leaf stems to fish for termites. They have also demonstrated predatory behavior in hunting and killing other larger mammals such as piglets, baboons, and other monkeys. In short, the chimpanzee is an intriguing species to which it can be closely compared
