In the year 2016-2017, 14% of international students arrived at VIU during the September and January sessions (VIU planning and analysis, 2017); and being new to the country they faced many problems. Some of the problems included difficulty speaking and understanding the local language, finding affordable accommodation to live in, and gaining knowledge about the country's culture. Therefore, my formal report will present the problems of international students and plan the solution of the students' problems which will result in an improvement of their overall student experience at the university. Each time it has been a difficult time for the first-year students to adapt to an environment completely opposite to their culture.
