Temptation is defined as a strong urge or desire to have or do something. Most people experience temptations in their lives, whether large or small. Temptation is simply a flaw that we humans will experience because we are not perfect and desire what we do not have. However, how that individual handles that certain desire shows a lot about his or her character. While we all experience temptations, it is up to us to make informed decisions about what is in our best interests. A couple of years ago, a friend recommended that I watch the movie Temptation: Confessions of a Marriage Counselor. The film was written and directed by Tyler Perry and released in 2013. It is about a woman named Judith who is married to a man named Brice but begins to experience desires. She has a happy marriage and a decent life, but suddenly she wants more. At first I kept putting off watching the movie, but I'm very excited that I did. The film is not only beautiful and suspenseful, but also impactful. The movie Temptation is important because it shows what could happen if we let our temptations take over and has an impactful meaning. Say no to plagiarism. This is seen dramatically in this film. At the beginning we are introduced to a married couple, Judith and Brice. An ideal couple who have been together since adolescence and seem to be madly in love. They live a middle-class life as Judith works as a therapist and Brice as a pharmacist. Even though Judith's life seems ideal, we start to get a peak that she wishes she had more when she complains about wanting her own business and something more in her life. One day, Judith meets a man named Harley at work. He is very rich, handsome and successful and overall seems to have it all. Judith, however, is not fazed by him at first, she has a loving husband and knows not to look in his direction. Day after day, Harley teases Judith and tells her that her marriage is boring and that he could give her everything she ever wanted. She suddenly realizes that even though she loves her husband, she is bored and wants more. She starts having an affair with Harley and he starts spoiling her with expensive trips, jewelry, clothes and everything she wants. Judith thinks she is happy but in reality her desires are taking over and she will soon have to face the consequences. Harley soon asks her to leave her husband to be with him, but she doesn't want to. Her husband discovers the affair and they argue until she leaves him to be with Harley. Harley gets angry at her over a disagreement and starts beating her. He becomes very abusive towards her especially when she tells him that she is leaving him. While beating her in one scene, Brice passes by and asks him to stop hurting her, he saves her life. Later that day, Judith discovers that she has HIV contracted from her relationship with Harley. Although he seemed perfect, he was far from it, he abused her, gave her HIV and ended her marriage. He faced many downfalls because he couldn't handle his temptations and stay happy with what he had. If we constantly let our temptations influence us, it will only lead to destruction. Tyler Perry took a simple wedding and turned it into a storyline that could happen to anyone unaware of their actions. The film showed me that our selfish impulses can cause disaster. Although the result may not.
