IndexIntroductionDay 1Day 2Day 3IntroductionIt's been a while since I last visited the mountains and the travel freak inside me was longing for an escape to the hills. So I begged my uncle to organize a little family trip over the weekend. Surprisingly, he was equally excited about all of us visiting a hill station. Say no to plagiarism. If your family is close by and travels quite often; or you only meet them once or twice a year, it's nice to go on holiday with them. It was the summer of 2016 when we decided to travel. Everyone had different travel perspectives, budgets, needs and desires. So, finding a place that the whole crew liked was tough. We chose a refreshing and relaxing destination among the misty and picturesque mountains, called Phakot. It's a quiet, lesser-known place in the hills, away from the bustling crowds of the city. As we narrowed down our choices, we settled on a resort in a location convenient for everyone. One of my uncle's friends had been there recently and his review of the place was simply fantastic. Planning and executing our trip just got so much easier. Day 1 We finally started our journey at 6 am from Delhi. After an eight-hour long journey full of curves, scenic mountains and verdant plains; we reached Phakot in the afternoon. All we could do was unpack, have lunch, and occupy our assigned rooms. In the evening we went to a famous temple nearby. There weren't many people around and the place was still untouched and clean. After seeking the blessings of the Almighty, we headed out for a drive. There was a spot near the temple from where you can get the most spectacular view of the city.Day 2Since it wasn't possible to cover all the spots in the area, we only put the best ones on our bucket list. The next day we had to visit Tehri Dam which was 45 kilometers from our property. We had to drive downhill to reach the dam. The blue-green lake was so beautiful and constantly left us in awe. You need to get a special permit in advance to visit Tehri Dam from inside. My uncle had already taken it, so we were lucky to get a tour inside the dam. I suggest opting for this if you visit the area. Just a few minutes drive from the dam was the Tehri lake where you can indulge in water sports. Although the adults in my family (excluding my uncle) gave up, I was still super pumped to do it. You can munch on Maggi and other snacks sold by nearby shops while enjoying the perfect scenery that seems straight out of a beautiful painting! Day Three We woke up early this morning. It was magical to watch the mountain range in the early morning as the sun gradually lifts the darkness. Later, we had tea and light breakfast and then proceeded towards Rajaji National Park. On our way to the park, we saw some beautiful scenes in the area. Every time you move away from the city you can experience nature in a different way. The trees, wild shrubs, terraced fields, streams and lakes; everything seemed fascinating. Before leaving we had prepared for the Safari; full of light and carried essentials such as hat, protective glasses, etc. The three-hour jeep safari ride passed through dense forest and was full of excitement and uncertainty. Our first wild encounter was with a pack.
