I don't want those who learn from me to be followers, I hope to inspire them to become their own leaders. During this course I improved many aspects regarding public speaking. I improved my poor eye contact, shaking hands and became less reserved and shy. These improvements are identical to my CIP document because at the beginning of the year I told myself that those were the goals and qualities that I wanted to work on improving during this course. Get an Original Essay During this course I also improved the following things: public speaking apprehension, research skills and persuasive speaking ability. The first improvement I would like to discuss would be apprehension in public speaking. I would say that in this respect I improved because in the last surgery compared to the first I was much less restless and I staggered much less. In my last speech I planted my feet like a tree, as Ms. Shanna always says, and tried to move every now and then when making transitions. The second goal that I believe I have improved significantly on is my research skills. Before this course I could find academic resources but not in the easiest way possible. I am now fully capable of using the library database and any other database to find scholarly sources to support my points for my speech or for any article I need to write. I also learned how to cite correctly and give a quote orally in a speech or article. This is something essential because it is something I will have to use for the rest of my life while giving public speeches. It is important to cite your work so that you do not plagiarize and so that your audience believes you because you are your own statement of credibility and the person you are and the impact it has on the world. For example, doctors, professors, authors, these are all people who can be credible as a source. The third goal I improved would be the ability to speak persuasively. I learned the correct way to give a persuasive speech and exactly what a persuasive speech needs to achieve for it to be exceptional and for others to go and do what you are convincing them to do. For example, I learned that in a persuasive speech it is necessary to have the Toulmin model which consists of a claim, a proof, a credibility of the proof, a warrant, a qualification and a refutation. All these factors are needed for Toulmin to be considered. In every persuasive speech you also have to state the point of view of the opposing sides, but sell your point of view as the right way to go and using this model from Toulmin I learned how to give a persuasive speech in an affective way and make my public want to stand with me as I continue to hear the views of opposing sides. Like everyone else, I'm not perfect and there are some things I haven't improved on that I wish I had. One of those things would be my nervousness. I think this is something that I don't really have a lot of control over, but over the course of this lesson I think it's gotten a little better because the more I know the people I'm talking to, the less nervous I get. In my last speech I had the feeling of moving less and just being.
