Art is everywhere, like it or not, and can be appreciated in the smallest of ways. It is absolutely necessary for the growth of a society and its people. Today it is mainly used by companies to increase people's opinions about their company or to sell a product. For example, if you go to the market and get a liter of milk, the first thing you might see on that liter is an image of a cow or the same milk being poured into a glass in a way that catches your eye and makes you makes you think "wow, that looks great!" This is the most common use of visual art today and often causes people to “miss the point” of what it really means (Why Art Matters, 1). Advertising is one of the largest fields of visual arts and shapes how we view a product, as well as the choices we make about that judgment. This is where the illusion of doing visual art arises, a potentially harmful thing. Illusion comes from what is true and what is invented or “altered”. A company might make their product look much better than it actually is, essentially tricking people into buying it. An example is when you go to a fast food restaurant and see signs of perfect looking sandwiches when they actually don't look that way. Most people don't see any illusions, but when they do it's hard for them to see the other side of things, the ones who aren't "stretching the truth." People today tend to see this type of advertising as normal. In fact, it kind of helps with things like morale, making things seem that much more worthwhile and just plain nicer. Art is therefore the "soul" of a successful company. What's more important than art? The artist obviously because without them neither of them would exist. Unfortunately people don't care so... middle of paper..., they improve their social skills as well as their social image and improve their psychological health (Why art matters, 1). The arts also increase perception and appreciation for life and the things in it (Why Art Matters, 1). Art is all around us everywhere we go and everywhere we look. It helps us understand where we are, where we are going and how we get there. The preservation of history relies heavily on art to preserve images, sounds, writings, and all sorts of other things from the past, so I guess you could say that recorded history is art (Social Impact of Art, 8). It helps get rid of multiracial and multicultural boundaries by creating connections between people from all over the world (How Art Impacts Society, 6). Art, as well as the artist, is very important in today's society and needs to be appreciated for what it is and what it does for us.
