This is the story of me and my father and how we came to the United States. We, just like any other immigrant, came here probably for the same reasons political, economic, or simply wanted to be close to our family here in the United States. I was too young to remember the struggles my father had to endure for us to come to the United States. We were not fortunate enough to be allowed to enter the United States like the rest of the family. However, the family made a plan that would bring my father and me to the United States. My father was terrified of crossing the border. The chances were very slim if you crossed over to the other side and even slimmer if you brought a four-year-old daughter with you. My father faced the dilemma of taking me especially because he had the documents that had me in custody. Before leaving Guatemala he was desperately trying to get my biological mother to release full custody of me. He finally had enough of his games. He couldn't understand why he was trying to keep me any longer, so he decided to walk away from our life. So he made the best decision for both of us. He got all his things together and our journey began. His first dilemma was getting me out of Guatemala, especially since we didn't have permission to leave the country. He manages to cross the border into Guatemala, the bus he was on stopped and the police asked what plans everyone had heading to Mexico. When the police approached my father and me, the police simply asked him what his plans were for Mexico. My father replies: I'm taking my daughter to visit her mother who lived in Mexico City. The police officer never asked to see any of our documents. We passed our first checkpoint. All this time my father was conceived that he would be discovered and worry about me... half of paper... l, family and work. Learning the second language was very beneficial and gave him so many opportunities available to him to advance in the company. Other than learning a new language, this was the only obstacle he faced when acquiring a second language. How my father and I differ in new language acquisition was also another factor, as a child I had to quickly absorb and learn a new language, however as an adult my father was still able to learn a new language but not easily comparable quickly. Emotion can profoundly affect everything depends on the words they begin to express. As for my father, he likes to express his emotions whether he is angry, happy and joyful in his native language, Spanish. He finds it easier to convey his feelings in his native language and finds more emphasis and emotion in your native language. The phase is certainly true sometimes your real emotion may be the loss of translation.
