In the story "Sword in the Stone" Wart learns some valuable life education lessons that will help him in the long run. When Sir Ector and his friend Sir Grummore Grummursum are at the docks drinking, they decide to go in search of a guardian for his sons, Wart and Kay. A new tutor was needed as their old tutor had gone mad. It was a busy time of year and Sir Ector didn't have time to find a tutor. After a day of hard work in the hayfields, Wart and Kay decide to go hunting with the falcon. Their hawk flies away hoping to find a rabbit and unfortunately flies into the forest and sits in a tree. Kay gets angry and leaves while Wart decides to win him back. He stops under a tree where he had landed and the wart is hit by an arrow. He runs through the forest and finds a knight named King Pellinore. King Pellinore is looking for the research beast which is a magical animal. King Pellinore hears the beast and runs to find it, leaving the wart behind. Wart was alone and fell asleep under a nearby tree. When Wart wakes up he finds himself in the middle of nowhere. He realizes that he is near a cottage in the forest. Meet a wizard named Merlyn. He ends up becoming Wart's new tutor. Wart invites Merlin to Sir Ector's castle. When they arrive at the castle, Merlin demonstrates his magical powers to Sir Ector. When it's time for Wart's first tutoring session, they go to a bridge and Wart starts talking to Merlin. The Wart told Merlin that he would like to be a fish so that he could swim freely in the water. On page 45 it is stated that Wart said “I wish I were a fish”. Then, to the Wart's surprise, Merlin granted that wish by turning the Wart into a fish. Merlyn and the W... middle of paper... Well, I can only teach you two things: dig and love your home. These are the true aim of philosophy." He also taught him that all creatures began as embryos and were then classified according to their characteristics. Becoming a man was the final choice and God placed man to have dominion over the animals. When the Wart pulled the sword from the stone and became king, he is now known as King Arthur. During his many transformations he learns many lessons that will benefit him and the people he governs. Learn that absolute power is not good. Can be understanding and open-minded. The power of being king shouldn't control you so much that you forget you have a responsibility. You have freedoms that should help him make ethical and wise decisions like a king. His responsibility as king is not to overwhelm the people but to lead them successfully.
