I like the way the ethnographer recognized the concept of tunnel vision and tries not to, but I don't think you can completely abandon it one's previous beliefs about a certain place/people or fully understand what it all means holistically, unless they grew up there themselves. Although I understand that if an ethnographer were to study a place they grew up in or similar to a place they grew up in, there might be a conflict of interest and other biases that are foreign to me. Additionally, he states that they were a little uncomfortable with him being white due to the fear of him being a cop, then states that they will later become comfortable with him over time. I disagree with him here because he has the privilege of not being aware of his privilege, however, these people of color are hyper aware of it, so they may have done more to appear different and even if they seemed to feel comfortable being around him, I don't think it will ever be like when I'm among other Puertos
