Topic > Identity, the end of the human race - 1084

In the modern world, most people take everything for granted: love, beautiful landscapes and infinite knowledge of everything. They complain about the little details of life. Men worry about their cars and women worry about getting their clothes dirty. Now imagine a community where there are no cars or colorful clothes. Not realizing that there is a possibility of Equality, they do not appreciate diversity. Imagine a community with identity and no diversity. Imagine how limited citizens could be, how colorless and loveless their lives could be. This is what Jonas' community looks like in Lois Lowry's The Giver. In his community all the residents are stuck with the identity that runs their lives and don't know that it can change. In this world with Oneness, all the things that life lives for, such as love, scenarios and infinite knowledge, have disappeared and a useless world with Oneness remains; however, this can be changed if love, color and knowledge are brought into the world. For many people, family is the most precious and important thing in life, now try to imagine it in a community where love does not exist. . The fact is that if love doesn't exist, then feeling doesn't exist either. Jonas has begun his training and now regularly receives reminders from the Giver. The Giver decides to give Jonas a memory like no other; a memory of a time when love and true family were in the air. After the memory of Christmas and love, he returns home and asks his parents if they love him. “'Jonas. You, of all people. Precision of language, please'” (127)! Believe it or not, this is Jonas' father's response and in it he emphasizes "Jonas" and "please." If a child approaches his parents and asks if... middle of paper... he really is. If you sit down and think about what is being kept from the public, you will realize that it is actually a lot of information that is being kept from the public, all because of identity. If love, color and knowledge were to exist in the community, one would realize how much better life is, how much more it is worth living and that they hate Oneness. Jonas' community is a perfect example of what would happen if Equality existed in our community. That's when you realize how much they would rather have their old, different, beautiful, loving community back. This is why it is shameless for people to respect and appreciate our modern world where knowledge is infinite. The world should end all wars and settle with peace among all, fearing that sameness is always a possibility.
