2013 Boston Marathon Bombings/ Who Did It?! Introduction“The media is the most powerful entity on earth. They have the power to make the innocent guilty and to make the guilty innocent, and that is power because they control the minds of the masses.” (Malcolm X). One of the most controversial topics covering local and international television news, radio stations, newspapers, magazines and social media sites is the Boston Marathon bombing that occurred on April 15 last year. There were many opinions about who committed that massacre. Many media outlets thought that the entire crime was a setup, but some of them were quick to point the finger at Tamerlan Tsarnaev and his brother Dzhokhar. In this article I have chosen to highlight three of the famous media resources which are: Boston Fox 25 News TV, CNN TV and Press TV (Iranian). Method In a few days it will be one year since the Boston Marathon massacre occurred. This is one of the reasons that motivated me to do my research on this controversial topic. I previewed a total of 90 reports; 30 reports announced by each of the American news channels; FOX news TV and CNN. Furthermore, I examined 30 reports published by an Iranian TV, Press TV. I then defined each report as positive, negative, or neutral. During my research I reviewed more reports than required for this assignment from numerous media outlets. I found it an interesting research that improves my knowledge of the topic itself and the techniques used by various media resources to display and announce their news to the public.
