Detours are fine, but hitting the road with a plan and route will make the trip successful. Requiring students to choose a career path in high school can have a positive effect on both students' careers and the American economy. Students who leave high school without having the proper career/college-ready skills have little to no chance of a successful future. Students who lack career/college readiness skills and attempt to enter the workforce immediately after high school will experience some level of disappointment.
