Topic > The Effects of Technology on Children - 668

Technology in this generation has come to affect the children of this generation as well. The reason this is such a concern is because the obsession that children have with technology is not good for the necessary social growth that needs to be instilled at a young age. To further explore this point on how it can be considered harmful, a visual representation, in the form of a poster, will be created to further explore this point. A poster of a multitude of young children doing various activities but instead of what is expected of them (e.g. bottles, pacifiers, rattles) they replace them with modern technology (e.g. iPods, cell phones, laptops). Using a poster that depicts children interacting with different forms of technology will not only demonstrate the emotional aspect, but will also persuade and inform how technology is influencing younger generations. By placing children at the center of the presentation, you automatically give the visual an aspect of ethos. Whenever you deal with children, a protective instinct manifests itself, whether it is a danger or protecting them from a truth. Therefore, as stated, it will automatically add a layer of emotion. As children will interact with technology, the idea that it is corrupting our younger generation is also presented. I will show 3 different children. A baby in a crib, and instead of what is usually associated with a baby in a crib, I'm going to replace it with an iPod, a baby using one of the latest social media, and finally a baby writing an essay. In addition to these contrasting elements, the clothing they will wear will be a suit or very formal attire. This will only help the idea that these qualities of the child who are suddenly... middle of paper... their. The era when parents said "go play" and that meant going outside and playing on the swings or coloring, is quickly being replaced by x-box games, where children don't even have to leave their room. Therefore, in conclusion, the positioning of these children in what is normally a childhood scene will further show the disconnect that technology is exerting on younger generations. This image will have captured the ideas that are portrayed through the mockery of technology. Children should still behave like children and not be surrounded by a multitude of electronic and technological devices. If portrayed correctly this will not only evoke the ethos and pathos of the negative side effects of mass use of technology but will also be informative, if not addressed correctly it will continue to be an issue that will cause major problems for years to come..
