In the United States, the priority level of education systems is continually decreasing. Since this major issue leads to decreases in value, the economy is also directly affected; the economy will decline and lag behind in development (Campante). Education is one of the most significant factors in a country's development, yet it continues to be overlooked in the United States. This topic is important to me because I am going to school to become a teacher and the education system continues to lose importance. America's future will be directly affected by how we educate American children today. Overall, Americans seem to believe that education is more important than ever, but there is no evidence of this. Nearly every state in America is facing a similar situation, with state budget cuts, lower wages, employee layoffs, and significant enrollment declines.
