Topic > My Personal Opinion on College Pressures - 1224

College Pressures One important thing in life that I think everyone should experience is college. Whether it is pursuing a general degree or a specific degree. Pick something that you would enjoy and wouldn't mind doing every day for the rest of your career. Otherwise you are wasting your time, your parents' time and money. Going to college comes with a tremendous amount of pressure for students to deal with. My personal opinion anxiety carries a heavy share of it and I believe it falls under self-induced pressure just because of your cognitive state. Your thought processes have a way of controlling your behavior and how you study or even find time to study. I believe the pressures are mostly psychological internally due to all the thoughts coming from the unconscious mind. These students might think positively or negatively; but our behaviors are based on these thoughts. We experience fear, stress and anxiety about what comes from our mind. There are ways to conquer these inner thoughts. Your first day of class will probably have a knot in your stomach, especially if you're stepping foot in that classroom for the first time in your college career. I know I felt like my stomach was in my throat and I didn't know what to expect. Some of us have a little more self-confidence than others, but the reality is that everyone has insecurities, whether it's about themselves or their behavior. Some of us fear the thought of “fitting in” or “doing the right thing.” It is in our nature as people to wonder what others think of our behavior or of us in general. Some, if not all, wonder if they are doing the “right” thing. Is there really a right or wrong way? No, it's what you feel and believe... middle of paper... be determined and ask yourself: is what you are doing worth all the fear, stress and anxiety. If you keep in mind why you're doing it and have incentives or motivators, it shouldn't be that difficult for some people. I know I don't want to work a low-paying job and struggle to get by or have to rely on someone to pay my bills and support me and my daughter. I would much rather go to school and take on these pressures knowing that It won't be easy, but I will be willing to take on the challenge of getting a higher paying job and helping people rather than doing grunt work for crazy hours struggling to get by. I know there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I know my daughter will be absolutely grateful once I graduate and start a new career, earning almost 3 times the amount I do now and being able to give her the life I never had.
