Unlike batteries, supercapacitors can operate in harsh conditions, where power generation systems are usually subjected to harsh conditions, such as a solar power generation system subjected to heat burning from the sun. Batteries, when used in such conditions, show reduced efficiency or may not even perform their function at all. Even if batteries were to be used, additional costs may be required to maintain the auxiliary systems that maintain the operating condition of these batteries. Another advantage that supercapacitors have over batteries is that supercapacitors have a much higher charging efficiency than batteries [36]. When recharged, the supercapacitor loses less energy than batteries, in a world where efficiency is everything and people strive to minimize losses.
