Ancient Japan, the Land of the Rising Sun, was a miracle civilization in East Asia. Even though the culture of ancient Japan is around thousands of years old, no one can ever forget its distinctive traditions and history throughout time. I have featured ancient Japan in this report because its society has now combined their ancient customs with our modern innovations. This fascinating civilization also consisted of unique clothing, food, and customs in their daily life. In this essay, I will interpret you about what the magnificent country of Japan was like about 12,014 years ago. Japan consisted of many islands in the Pacific Ocean off the northeast coast of Asia and was 1,865 miles (3,000 kilometers) long from north to south. Furthermore, Japan's widest point was only 250 miles (402 kilometers) wide. To the west of Japan were China and Korea, while to the east of Japan were the United States and Canada. Japan's total land area was 145,000 square miles, or only one twentieth of that of the United States. Although Japan was made up of more than 4,000 islands, most of its territory and population were concentrated in the four largest islands, which together would be about the size of California. Most of Japan's territory consisted of mountains, and only 17% of its territory could be used for agricultural purposes. One of the most difficult times for Japan was when the Japanese were at war. In 194 Kyoto Heian became the capital of Japan. In the Heian era, political power was held by the Fajiwara clan and was later overwhelmed by the Taira clan, which was defeated by the Minamoto clan. Although the emperor remained in power in Kyoto, real power was transferred to the hands of Minamoto, crucifixion, beheading by the sword, or cutting off the waist (cutting the person in half). ). The death penalty often involved collective punishment. One of them was taking the criminal around the city before the execution. Another was the public display of the criminal's execution. To top it off, there was a public display of the severed head after the execution. In conclusion, everyone in Japan had an easy or hard life. Japan has an intriguing way of life from the beginning of the Jomon period until the end of the Yayoi period. I enjoyed learning about their way of life and how their families cared for each other. After learning so much about ancient Japan, I realized that what seems normal to us may seem unusual to the Japanese people. To conclude, ancient Japan is a unique civilization that we should learn more about throughout history.
