and slowly the world begins to disappear. first the sound of the cats howling fades away, the music melts away and everything becomes background noise and if someone put a gun to his head he wouldn't be able to name the last song played. the keyboard keys click satisfyingly even as the x key still clicks, fingers flying across the keyboard causing the words to appear moments before they even form properly in the mind's eye. irritating hair is pushed to the side and the uncomfortable, lumpy seat becomes a minor inconvenience easily corrected with unconscious adjustments in sitting posture every few minutes so as not to distract from the razor-sharp focus that doesn't even extend to the computer screen a few centimeters away distance from a face that might have been blind as spell check will focus you when finished correcting the mechanics of a hastily transcribed essay while your mind does its best to match the thoughts it hasn't finished forming to those awkward, cumbersome fingers that are the outlet for these magnificent and much-needed thoughts that need to be shared with the world so quickly that when we read them again later we feel the need to proofread as a teacher would tell you
